Westmoreland County Deed 32–536: “James Jamison of Unity Township and Lydia his wife sell to James Scott of Mt. Pleasant Township lot of two acres adjoining the town of Pleasant Unity, purchased on 11 April 1848 from Robert Baxter.” Also, they sold another lot in the village of Pleasant Unity, which they purchased 11 April 1841 from Jacob and Susanna Fisher. In 1850, James, Lydia and family were still living in Unity Township, where James was enumerated as a carpenter.177 In 1860, James and second wife Rebecca and family were in Hempfield Township; and in 1870 and 1880, James Rebecca and family were in Mt. Pleasant Township.178 James was enumerated as a farmer in these censuses.

They travelled together for the next three years before William died of tuberculosis. William is also buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Dallas.

Robert Jamison was a farmer for many years and a leading figure in the Westmoreland County Agricultural Society.215 But Robert and several of his descendants are best known for their activities in the coal industry, see the section “Jamison Coal and Coke Company.” In 1870, Robert and family were living in Hempfield Township (Greensburg), Westmoreland County, where Robert was listed as a farmer, with $34,000 dollars in real estate.216
